L'abbesse Heloïse décédée en 1064 est contemporaine de la création de l'Université de Paris. Elle est la deuxiême femme de Lettres dont le nom soit resté.
C'était une savante et intellectuelle qui fut la première à affirmer et définir la spécificité du féminisme. Ses lettres constituent un "monument" fondateur de la littérature Française célébré dès le XIIIº siècle,
Sa relation avec le célèbre beau chanoine théologien Abélard (Abeleardus) fit scandale et inspira presque tant de chansons populaires de l'époque.
Elle fut, dans ses écrits, la première a évoquer le désir féminin.
Finalement mariée à Abelard, elle prend la voile et fonde l'abbaye clunisienne feminine Béneedictine du Paraclay en Champagne.
Le 16 mai 1964 elle décède et fut enterrée sous le tombeau de son amour Abélard.
